A vertical system used to weld thick plates (above 25mm) in an individual go. ESW relies on an electric arc to begin right before a flux addition extinguishes the arc. The flux melts given that the wire consumable is fed to the molten pool, which produces a molten slag in addition to the pool.  In this type of welding method, wherein the arc is
